UPA DANCE SMALL GROUP SUPER STAR CHALLENGE

WHAT IS IT?
Small groups ranging from two to five persons (2-5) are allowed to enter this fun competition. Individuals will also be selected from this competition for the elite UPA All Stars.

WHAT PACKAGE DO I HAVE TO BUY IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN THIS EVENT?
PARTICIPANTS MAY ATTEND THIS EVENT EVEN IF THEIR TEAM IS NOT COMPETING AT THE AMERICUP. HOWEVER, ALL COMPETITORS MUST PURCHASE THE UPA ATHLETE PACKAGE IN ADDITION TO THE $25 PER PERSON REGISTRATION FEE IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN THIS EVENT. ALL COMPETITORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE UPA SEMI-FORMAL AWARDS GALA WHERE THE WINNERS WILL BE RECOGNIZED.

DO I NEED TO QUALIFY FOR THIS EVENT?
You do not need to qualify for this event. It is open to everyone.

Friday AT THE HYATT

WHAT DOES IT COST?
$25 per person / PER ROUTINE or TEAM

HOW DO I REGISTER?
* All registration will take place online. No registrations accepted via mail.
* $25 per person entry fee is due at registration. A secure online credit card registration system is in place.
* It is up to the coach/individual to enter the correct category/division.
* Registration closes on FEBRUARY 1ST. Absolutely no registration will be accepted after this date.

DOES THE PUBLIC HAVE TO PURCHASE AN ADMISSION TICKET TO THE EVENT?
NO! DANCE SMALL GROUP Super Star Challenge ADMISSION is FREE!

WHAT ARE THE DIVISIONS OF COMPETITION?
divisions determined by AVERAGE AGE OF THE GROUP.

NEW BREAKDOWN FOR 2011!
TINY: 5 YEARS OLD AND UNDER
MITE: 6-8 YEARS OLD
YOUTH: 9-11 YEARS OLD
TEEN: 12- 14 YEARS OLD
JUNIOR: 15-16 YEARS OLD
SENIOR: 17-18 YEARS OLD
COLLEGIATE: 19 YEARS OLD AND UP

WHAT ARE WE JUDGED ON?
Judging Criteria:
* 20% Creativity
* 20% Difficulty
* 20% Technique
* 20% Synchronization
* 20% Audience Appeal

WHAT ARE THE ROUTINE REQUIREMENTS?
* Bring what you do best.
* All routines must be no longer than one minute in length.
* Routines must be choreographed to music – the whole time.
* You can cheer/chant over the music if you desire – but it is not required.

Participants should be in their school uniform or a costume when competing.

 

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD ADHERE TO THEIR RULES & REGULATIONS THAT GOVERN THEIR STATE AND/OR PROGRAM.

WHAT SPACE DO WE HAVE TO COMPETE ON?
Dancers will perform on a wood dance floor approximately 15' x 27'.
