UNIVERSAL OFFICIALS/Judge Program (JP)
The ALL NEW, UPDATED, unique UPA UNIVERSAL OFFICIALS/Judge Program is unlike anything you've experienced before. It's great for coaches, students, those who want to judge, choreographers and more. Basically... Anyone who wants to learn a great tool for scoring, keeping notes or jotting down ideas. This program is open to everyone. UPA strongly encourages everyone to learn it. All UPA judges are REQUIRED to successfully complete the program before judging a UPA event.
The UPA course will be comprised of mastering an unique shorthand system, learning how to apply it by actually scoring a routine with hands on judging practical and a take-home open note test. Those who successfully master the program within three weeks of course date will receive a UPA JP certificate and be added to the UPA database for future judging opportunities.
UPA strongly encourages COACHES to learn this program as well. The JP shorthand is a valuable tool that will enhance your day-to-day practices. It also enables you to see how the judges will score your team when it's time for competition.
NEW!!!! The MSHSL recognizes this program as a training tool for officials -- as with JAM. UPA strongly encourages officials to take both programs... the more education the better official you will be. NOTE: MN DANCE Competition Hosts do NOT need to go through JAM in order to schedule officials for their competitions.
The UPA UNIVERSAL OFFICIALS/JUDGE PROGRAM can be ORDERED VIA FAX, THROUGH THE MAIL, LEARNED AT OUr NATIONAL COACHES CONFERENCE OR brought to your state by UPA! Call UPA for details at 763-792-8989. Many states have adopted the UPA Judging and scoring system as their guideline for competitions. You can too! Or you may take the course on your own.
ATTEND THE UPA NATIONAL COACHES CONFERENCE THIS JUNE AND BECOME CERTIFIED ON SITE. UPA IS OFFERING THE ALL NEW JP AT A DISCOUNTED RATE FOR ALL ATTENDEES ($50 PER PERSON / REG. $89 PER PERSON). CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.
